In light of concerns about the COVID-19 virus and current restrictions, the Utah Independent Living Center will be partially open to the public only for individual appointments with staff; please call to make an appointment. We are requesting that masks be worn while meeting at our building. Some classes will be held in-person if there is enough interest. Most classes are held virtually via ZOOM meetings. Transportation will be very limited and not available for all classes. We are open and answering phones from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm including over the lunch hour.
Currently the UILC has some limited-time Covid (CARES Act) funding available. This is available to assist people with disabilities with Covid-related or caused expenses.
Please call for more information.
If you are a person with a disability, you may be able to get a free ride to get your vaccine from the Salt Lake County Health Department. The number you would need to call is 385-468-4636. This call number is operated Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. When you call this number, you can schedule your vaccine shot and your ride at the same time. You may take an attendant with you but you will need to ask if they can also schedule their vaccine shot when you get yours. You will be scheduled at one of the mass gathering sites. Please call to schedule your ride as this resource is not very well known. This is only available to people living in Salt Lake County.
Limited Loan Bank service is available from 8:00 am until 3:30 pm. Please call from your car when you arrive to pick up equipment. Equipment can be returned during business hours by leaving them on our deck and signing them in as returned in the binder there.
